Brain Fitness Program

As seen on PBS

Valley VNA Senior Services is now offering the Posit Science Brain Fitness Program™ to the community.

Partially funded through a grant from Bemis Company Foundation, this program has been clinically proven to produce improvement in cognitive functions.  According to PositScience™, more than 90 percent of Brain Fitness Program participants report benefits of better memory, quicker thinking and stronger communication.

While there are many "brain games and exercises" available, the Brain Fitness Program is scientifically based. The program was developed by a team of more than 50 scientists from leading universities around the world. This computer-based program will improve brain functions in a healthy aging brain. In addition, studies show that the program is beneficial to people with chemobrain and may benefit those with other cognitive impairments (visit positscience.com for more information).

What our pilot group has to say about the program:

"I have the ability to concentrate better. When I'm in a room with several different conversations going, I can now pay attention to the person I'm talking to." Carl, 79

"I have definitely noticed an improvement in my recall. I'm glad for the opportunity to experience the benefits of the exercises this program employs. People have commented on how improved my recall is. Won't leave me an excuse now, I'll have to remember everything." Roger, 70.

"It's a challenging program, but I have really noticed improvements. I'm not struggling as I was before when it comes to my memory. 'Chemo brain' just doesn't clear up on its own; you really need to work your way back." Theresa, 54 - Breast cancer survivor.

Cathy Loomans, Information Technology Director for Valley VNA Senior Services is directing the program. "This program is therapy for your brain - much like physical or occupational therapy, it is hard work, but if you stick with it you will see results! You're always getting feedback from the program and it gets harder as you go."
