As a nonprofit, philanthropy has always been an integral part of Valley VNA Senior Care. The original Visiting Nurse Association was formed by a group of benevolent women in 1908 and throughout its 100 year history, Valley VNA has had the support of the community through gifts of time, talent, and donations. Today, the programs of Valley VNA provide an environment where seniors, who have given so much, live with dignity and grace.
We are grateful to those who have joined the generations of giving to help us carry out our mission of providing quality choices for senior living. This continued support will ensure that Valley VNA is able to serve the community now and for generations to come.
There are many other ways for you to make a lasting gift that will sustain Valley VNA Senior Care well into the future.
Therapeutic Garden Spending time outside in a garden has been shown to positively affect a person’s emotions and improve their sense of well-being. Access to nature balances circadian rhythms, lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, and increases absorption of Vitamin D. Gardens have been shown to be beneficial for our overall health and well-being.
Meals on Wheels for Neenah and Menasha The Meals on Wheels program provides nutritional meals to many throughout the Neenah and Menasha communities. We collaborate with the Neenah-Menasha Emergency Society to provide this service. The meals are purchased from ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah and delivered by volunteers to clients in the Neenah and Menasha area, who pay a small fee for the meal.
Donations help to offset the cost of the meals and support the Meals on Wheels program.
Life Enrichment Life enrichment provides opportunities for seniors to participate in activities that have meaning to them. Valley VNA’s goal is to keep seniors engaged in activities and interactions that are individualized, fun, and impactful.
Activities for independent residents in our Valley VNA Community, and In-Home Care clients, include:
For our memory care residents we offer:
Music Soothes the Soul That’s the connection your loved one will experience through our formal music program, led by our creative Music Director. Music is shared on a daily basis and through our innovative music programs: Music & Memory™, Lyrics & Laughter™, and Drum Circles.
Cycling Without Age™
“We dream of creating a world together, in which the access to active citizenship creates happiness among our fellow elderly citizens by providing them with an opportunity to remain an active part of society and the local community.
We do that by giving them the right to wind in their hair, the right to experience the city and nature close up from the bicycle and by giving them an opportunity to tell their story in the environment where they have lived their lives.
That way we build bridges between generations and we reinforce trust, respect and the social glue in our society.”
How It Works
Volunteers (pilots) sign up for bike rides with seniors during summer and fall months. It’s all driven by people’s own motivation! Learn more and apply to be a volunteer.
Cycling Without Age is a movement started in 2012 by Ole Kassow. Ole wanted to help the elders get back on their bicycles, but he had to find a solution to their limited mobility. The answer was a trishaw and he started offering free bike rides to the local nursing home residents.
He then got in touch with a civil society consultant from the City of Copenhagen, Dorthe Pedersen, who was intrigued by the idea and together they bought five trishaws and launched Cycling Without Age, which has now spread to all corners of Denmark, and since 2015 to another 50 countries around the world.
