“A Time of Reflection, Inspiration, and Reconciliation  ”

John Koehler served aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga, an aircraft carrier stationed in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War in 1971 and 1972 .

He is a disabled Marine Corps veteran and active in several veterans’ organizations including the Vietnam Veterans of America, Veterans for Peace, Disabled American Veterans, and Outagamie County Veterans Court. He is a frequent guest speaker at area high schools and universities on the trials and tribulations of the Vietnam War and its residual effects.

His presentation will focus primarily on the impact of Agent Orange on U.S. veterans and  today’s Vietnamese civilian population. He will also include a brief overview of Project Renew, which works to eradicate unexploded ordnance from the war in Quang Tri Province, and an update on the toxic “hot spot” at the Da Nang Airport.
